murder story

On January 4, 2013, Ronald Baquiran Bae and his accomplice, John Paul Lopez, started shooting in Barangay Tabon 1 in Kawit, Cavite. The shooting began just after 9:00 a.m. They first went to a neighbor's house where Bae shot Maricel Pajal, who was doing laundry.

Next, Bae and Lopez moved to the home of the Caimol family. There, Bae asked the three Caimol children where their father was. When they said he was not home, Bae drew a .45-caliber Colt 1911 and shot the children, killing 7-year-old Michaella and seriously wounding her younger siblings, a 3-year-old brother and a 2-year-old sister.

After that, Bae and Lopez left and started running through the streets. Bae fired at anyone he saw while Lopez reloaded the gun when it was empty. During this time, they killed 55-year-old Alberto Fernandez, who was on his porch with his dog. They continued into a nearby alley and shot at people, including a pregnant woman named Rhea de Vera and her 3-year-old daughter, John Monica.

Bae then exited the alley and went to a small market. There, he killed three more people: Boyet Toledo, a tricycle driver, Irene Funelas, a fruit vendor, and Al Orio, a taho vendor. The whole shooting lasted around 30 minutes.

After the shootings, police arrived and told Bae to surrender. Instead, he shot at the police, and they returned fire, killing him. Lopez managed to escape initially but later turned himself in to the police.

The attack left eight people dead, including Bae, and injured twelve others. Following the shooting, investigators searched Bae's property after Lopez indicated that Bae might have killed more people in the past. They discovered skeletal remains believed to belong to Teodulo Villanueva, whom Bae was accused of killing in 2003.
