Bio

Rolando Ruiz Jr. was born on July 4, 1972, in the United States. He grew up in a family in Bexar County, Texas.

As a young man, Ruiz became involved in various activities that brought him into contact with the law. He had several encounters with law enforcement during his teenage years and young adulthood. This included multiple arrests for various offenses. By the time he reached his early twenties, he had already faced serious charges, including aggravated robbery.

Ruiz had a reputation in his community, and some of his friends noted his tendency toward violence. They mentioned that he carried weapons and often got into fights. He was also part of a local gang, which influenced his behavior and decisions.

Murder Story

Rolando Ruiz Jr. was involved in the murder of Theresa Rodriguez, which took place on July 14, 1992, in Bexar County, Texas. Michael Rodriguez and his brother, Mark, hired Ruiz to kill Theresa for $2,000. The plan involved Ruiz following the couple home after a movie.

As Theresa opened the car door in the garage, Ruiz approached and shot her once in the head with a .357 revolver. He did not take anything and quickly left the scene. Afterward, he spent the evening playing basketball.

Ruiz was later arrested, and evidence showed he had been hired by the Rodriguez brothers to commit the murder. On May 4, 1995, he was sentenced to death for the crime. During the trial, witnesses testified about Ruiz's violent behavior and past offenses, including aggravated robbery.

Despite several attempts to appeal his conviction, including state and federal habeas petitions, all were denied. His execution was scheduled for July 10, 2007.
