Bio

Roger Severs was born in 1956 in the United Kingdom. He grew up in a home that was different from many others. His parents, Derek and Eileen Severs, were well-known in their community. Derek was a successful businessman, and Eileen received an MBE for her charity work. They were respected figures in Hambleton, Leicestershire.

Roger's life was not as successful. He struggled to find a job and did not have a career of his own. Instead, he lived with his parents and depended on them for financial support throughout his life. This situation caused issues between Roger and his parents, as they were unwilling to provide him with the help he wanted.

Growing up, Roger likely faced challenges in fitting into a society that put importance on independence and success. He remained at home while his parents built their lives and careers, which may have added to his feelings of resentment. Despite being an adult, he did not establish his own life away from his parents.

As time passed, the tension between Roger and his parents grew. Reports suggest that he felt frustrated and rejected because they did not give him the support he desired. This resentment became a significant part of his identity.

On November 13, 1993, a serious event took place that changed everything for Roger. After a day of drinking, he returned home and acted violently toward his parents. This moment, rooted in his long-standing feelings of anger and frustration, led to tragic consequences.

Ultimately, Roger’s early life was marked by dependency and conflict with his parents, which played a role in the events that unfolded later. Following the actions he took, he faced serious legal consequences. On December 6, 1994, he was sentenced to two life sentences in prison.

Murder Story

On November 13, 1993, Roger Severs killed his mother, Eileen, and his father, Derek, in their home in Hambleton, Leicestershire. Roger used a steak mallet to attack both of his parents. He was unhappy with them for not supporting him financially and was resentful of their refusal to help him.

After the murders, Roger placed the bodies in the family car. He then drove to Armley Wood and buried them there. Following the disappearance of Derek and Eileen, friends became concerned when they did not hear from them or see them for over a week. The couple was known for being active in their community and their sudden absence was unusual.

On November 18, 1993, friends contacted the police, raising suspicions about the Severs’ well-being. Police visited the Severs' home and found signs of a violent crime. There were blood stains present and some evidence showed that someone had tried to clean them up. Everything in the house appeared out of place, which was not typical for the parents' organized lifestyle.

Roger was arrested by police on suspicion of murder on November 19, 1993. Following his arrest, forensic investigations discovered blood and yellow fibers throughout the house and in the car. The mud found on the car led police to the area where the bodies were eventually found.

On December 1, 1993, the bodies of Derek and Eileen Severs were discovered in the woods. They were wrapped in a yellow blanket. Both victims sustained severe head injuries, consistent with being struck by a heavy object. Analysis confirmed that the dirt covering the bodies matched soil from the Severs' garden.

Roger claimed he was not fully responsible for his actions but was found guilty of both murders after a trial. On December 6, 1994, he was sentenced to two life sentences in prison.
