Bio

Robert R. Simon, also known as "Mudman," was born in 1950. He grew up in Pennsylvania. Not much is known about his early childhood, but like many others, he faced various challenges growing up.

As a teenager, Simon became involved with motorcycle gangs. He would later join the Warlocks motorcycle gang. This was a significant part of his identity and lifestyle. It influenced his choices and the path his life would take.

In 1974, when Simon was 24 years old, he committed his first crime, which would lead to serious consequences. He killed his 19-year-old girlfriend. This act resulted in a prison sentence of 10 to 20 years in Pennsylvania. Simon spent approximately 12 and a half years in prison before he was paroled in 1995.

After his release, Simon returned to a life of crime. He was involved in various illegal activities. This lifestyle ultimately led to more violent actions in the following years. Simon's life was marked by constant struggles with the law and his ties to motorcycle gangs.

Murder Story

In 1974, Robert R. Simon killed his 19-year-old girlfriend. This act led to his imprisonment for about 12 and a half years in Pennsylvania. He was paroled in 1995.

Just 11 weeks after his release, Simon was involved in another deadly incident. In May 1995, he shot Franklin Township police Sergeant Ippolito Gonzalez. The shooting occurred shortly after Sergeant Gonzalez pulled over Simon and a co-defendant near a police station. Simon had just participated in a robbery and did not want to return to prison. After the shooting, Simon and his accomplice were arrested following a brief chase.

After these events in New Jersey, Simon was sentenced to death for the murder of Sergeant Gonzalez in 1997. His previous murder conviction was also taken into account during the trial.

In 1999, while in prison, Simon was killed by another inmate named Ambrose Harris. They were placed in a recreation cage together, where a violent altercation occurred. Harris attacked Simon, resulting in Simon's death. This incident marked the first known killing of a death-row inmate in New Jersey's modern history.
