murder story
On April 23, 1980, Robert Jimmy White Jr. walked into a bar and approached 46-year-old Betty Jo Robertson. After talking, he convinced her to let him walk her home. Once they were in a secluded spot, Betty resisted his advances. In response, White became violent, biting, scratching, and ultimately smashing her head into the concrete. Witnesses called for help, but Betty died the next day from her injuries.
In June of that year, police arrested White based on witness accounts and evidence found at the scene. White confessed, claiming he did not intend to kill her. His charge was lowered to manslaughter due to his intoxication at the time, and he was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.
White was paroled in July 1989 after serving 8½ years. On August 10, 1997, he met Shiraleen Crawford, a 30-year-old prostitute, and they arranged to spend time together. After drinking at her apartment, White attacked her with a knife, cutting her throat and stabbing her multiple times. He then used a hammer to beat her. Five days later, her decomposing body was discovered.
In 2011, White was sentenced again for first-degree sexual assault in another case, but was released before long. After his release, he began a relationship with 60-year-old Sawarie Krichindath. On September 27, 2012, he attacked 48-year-old Sonia Rivera in an alley, raping and beating her until she lost consciousness. Although she initially survived, she died in the hospital five days later.
In February 2013, following a dispute with Krichindath, White killed her by choking and stabbing her in the neck. He was arrested on March 18, 2013, and confessed to her murder. In 2014, White received a sentence of 50 years in prison for this crime.
After his sentencing, White provided his DNA for the state database. In April 2016, his DNA matched evidence from Crawford's murder. When interviewed by detectives, he initially denied knowing her but later confessed. He also admitted to killing Sonia Rivera, whose murder had wrongly implicated another man. In 2018, White entered an Alford plea regarding these murders and received an additional 50-year sentence.
