Robert Alan Fratta was born on February 22, 1957. He grew up in a family in Missouri City, Texas. His early life details are not widely documented, but he later became a police officer. Fratta attended school and went through a typical educational process. He eventually graduated and began his career in law enforcement.
In 1983, Robert married Farah Fahmida Baquer. The couple had three children together. Their marriage faced many challenges, leading to a strained relationship. By 1992, the couple’s difficulties intensified, and Farah filed for divorce. This marked the start of a prolonged legal battle between them.
During their divorce, the couple fought over custody of their children. Reports indicated that Robert's behavior and attitudes during this time were troubling. Some people noted that he expressed hostile feelings towards Farah. Friends and colleagues heard him talking about his desires to harm her due to their ongoing conflicts regarding the divorce.
The divorce process lasted for two years, full of disputes. Tensions increased as both sides fought for their rights as parents. Robert's struggles with these personal issues would later lead to serious events in all their lives. Despite these challenges, he continued his work as a police officer while navigating the difficulties in his marriage.
murder story
On November 9, 1994, Farah Fratta was shot and killed at her home in Atascocita, Texas. Before the murder, she had dinner with her estranged husband, Robert Alan Fratta, and their three children. After dinner, Robert took the younger two children to a nursery while the oldest attended a catechism class. Shortly after he left, Farah went outside to her garage, where she encountered Howard Guidry, the man hired to kill her. Guidry shot Farah twice in the head, killing her instantly. He then fled the scene in a getaway car driven by Joseph Prystash, a friend of Robert’s who had helped plan the murder.
Following Farah’s death, initial investigations pointed to Robert Fratta due to his lack of emotion after the murder and his connections to the people involved. However, police lacked sufficient evidence to arrest him immediately. Months passed until Guidry was arrested for a separate crime, a bank robbery. During his arrest, a gun was found that was linked to the murder of Farah. This discovery led to the arrests of Robert Fratta and Joseph Prystash after Guidry confessed that he had acted on Fratta's orders.
All three men were later charged with capital murder. At separate trials, evidence, including ballistics tests and witness testimonies, confirmed Robert's role in plotting the killing. During his trial in 1996, he was convicted and sentenced to death. Both Guidry and Prystash were also found guilty in their trials, receiving death sentences as well.
After years of appeals, Robert Fratta's death sentence was upheld. On January 10, 2023, he was executed by lethal injection in Texas. His co-conspirators, Guidry and Prystash, remain on death row as of 2024.
