Bio

Richard Lyle Timmons was born in 1965. He grew up in an environment that was troubled and marked by violence. His early life details are sparse, but it is known that he had a difficult upbringing. He faced several issues growing up, which may have influenced his later behavior.

Timmons had various encounters with the law before his most notorious acts. He was jailed in 1982 for robbery and again in 1986 for petty larceny. These early brushes with crime set the stage for a troubled adult life. Timmons struggled with substance abuse over the years, which became evident in both his personal life and legal troubles.

In his adult life, Timmons married Annita Stewart. The couple had a son named Aaron. Annita had another son, Sharron, from a previous relationship. Reports indicate that Timmons was abusive towards Annita. He faced charges for several assaults against her, including instances where he threatened her with a knife and physically harmed her. Annita refused to testify against him in court, showing conflicting feelings towards him, despite the violence.

In 1997, after serving time for earlier assaults, Timmons was released from prison. He had entered a plea agreement, which allowed him to avoid a longer sentence. Despite his release, he moved back in with Annita and their children shortly after. This decision was met with concern by neighbors who were aware of Timmons's history of violence. They expressed disbelief that Annita would allow him back into their home after the abuse she had suffered.

Murder Story

On June 8, 1997, Richard Lyle Timmons committed a brutal crime in his apartment in Long Island City, New York. After being released from prison ten days earlier, he killed three people: his wife Annita Stewart Timmons, their seven-year-old son Aaron, and Annita's thirteen-year-old son, Sharron.

The murders occurred late at night. Timmons first attacked Annita, decapitating her with a hatchet. He then turned on his son Aaron, who pleaded for help during a 911 call that recorded his final moments. Aaron was also decapitated. Finally, Timmons stabbed his stepson Sharron to death. After the attacks, Timmons attempted suicide by slashing one of his wrists and wrote a message on the wall with his blood.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the gruesome aftermath of the attacks. They found Annita and Aaron's decapitated bodies in the apartment, while Sharron's body showed signs of having been stabbed. Timmons was quickly apprehended and taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his wrist injury before being charged with the murders.

By the end of the day on June 8, he was arrested and later charged with multiple counts of murder. Timmons was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In 2004, while serving his sentences, he filed a lawsuit against the city of New York, claiming police brutality during his arrest. However, he lost the case due to insufficient evidence to support his claims.
