1998Reginald Sublet was born in 1964. He grew up in Texas, where he lived in a family that faced various challenges. He later joined the Dallas police force in 1989.
Sublet had a troubled career as a police officer. He was fired in 1995 for being absent without leave and for making false statements to investigators. This firing was later overturned on appeal. Despite this, Sublet struggled with his job. He was fired again in March 1998 after he failed to provide medical documents to support his claims of job-related stress.
Around this time, Sublet also faced personal issues. He had a son, Reginald Sublet Jr., with his ex-girlfriend, Rosalind Tramble. Their relationship became strained, leading to a custody battle. In June 1998, Sublet was jailed for five months for failing to pay child support. He was released just a month before the tragic events that would follow.
In the years leading up to July 1998, he dealt with job loss and personal struggles.
On July 16, 1998, Reginald Sublet committed a series of murders in Ballwin, Missouri. He forced his ex-girlfriend, Rosalind Tramble, their son, and two others into a closed garage. Reginald then started a car in the garage, which filled the space with carbon monoxide, leading to the deaths of everyone inside, including himself.
Authorities later discovered Reginald's body leaning inside the open door of the car, with a gun in his hand. Rosalind Tramble was found bound on the floor with severe head injuries. Her husband, Michael Tramble Jr., was discovered bound and gagged inside the trunk of a different car.
The bodies of the two boys, 12-year-old Reginald Sublet Jr. and toddler Michael Tramble III, were located in another vehicle. Michael was strapped into his seat, while Reginald was slumped in the back. The investigation revealed that the adults and the boys died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Rosalind's death was attributed to a combination of the poisoning and the severe head wounds she sustained.
Reports indicate that the events of that night included a struggle. There was blood found splattered on the floor and furniture in the home. Reginald had tied up the adults before forcing everyone into the garage. Although he had fired his gun once, no one was shot during the incident.
Reginald Sublet had recently been released from jail in Texas, where he served time for not paying child support. He had a troubled career as a police officer, having been fired twice for various reasons, including making false statements and failing to submit medical documentation related to his job.
