— Raymond Plunkett
Raymond Plunkett was born in 1914 in Holly Pond, Alabama. As he grew up, Plunkett would eventually leave Alabama. He moved to Ely, Nevada, where he started a family. He had a baby with his partner.
On December 10, 1942, a tragic event occurred in their home while the mother was at work. The family was living in Ely, which is located in eastern Nevada. At the time of this incident, Plunkett was alone with his five-month-old baby.
After the incident, he attempted to take his own life by hurting himself with a straight razor. Following this, he was arrested on the same day. Over the next few months, his case would go to trial, and details about his mental state and actions would be revealed. Ultimately, Plunkett's life ended when he was executed by gas asphyxiation in Nevada State Prison on June 30, 1944. He was 30 years old at the time of his death.
On December 10, 1942, Raymond Plunkett committed a tragic crime in Ely County, Nevada. He killed his 5-month-old baby while the child's mother was away working at a local laundry. After the murder, Plunkett attempted to take his own life by slitting his wrists with a straight razor.
He was arrested the same day. During his trial, it came out that Plunkett had instructed others not to interfere with his baby, even when the baby cried. He believed that letting the baby alone would make it tougher. This mindset played a role in the events that unfolded.
Plunkett was executed by gas asphyxiation on June 30, 1944, in the Nevada State Prison. He was 30 years old at the time of his execution.
