Raúl Osiel Marroquín Reyes was born on September 1, 1980, in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to parents Roberto Marroquín and Gloria Reyes. He spent part of his early life interested in military service. On January 21, 1999, he joined the Mexican army as a private soldier, enrolling in the 15th Infantry Battalion in his hometown. Over the years, he worked hard and earned the rank of Second Sergeant. Raúl had aspirations to further his education and study medicine, but financial difficulties made it impossible for him to continue his military career.
After four years in the army, Raúl was discharged in May 2004. He returned to Tampico, where he faced difficulties adjusting to civilian life. Raúl was later imprisoned for 14 months due to a violent robbery conviction.
murder story
Raúl Osiel Marroquín Reyes kidnapped several young men between October and December 2005, primarily in Mexico City. He met his victims at a gay bar called Cabaretito Neón. After making sentimental or erotic proposals, he invited them to his house or a hotel. Marroquín was aided by an accomplice named Juan Enrique Madrid Manuel.
Once they were in his control, he would often torture his victims. He suffocated them repeatedly until they lost consciousness and then would suffocate them again before finally killing them. Even when he received ransom money from the victims' families, he sometimes still murdered them. After killing them, he would leave their bodies in suitcases around various locations in the city.
His first known victim was Juan Carlos Alfaro Alba, kidnapped on October 21, 2005. After a week in captivity and payment of ransom, he was spared his life but suffered extensive physical and psychological harm. However, other victims were not so fortunate. Jonathan Razo Ayala was taken on October 27, 2005, and murdered after 16 days in captivity. Ricardo López Hernández was kidnapped on November 30 and killed after barely nine days. Armando Rivas Pérez and Víctor Ángel Iván Gutiérrez Balderas were both taken on December 16, 2005. Rivas was killed even after a ransom was paid, and Gutiérrez was killed shortly after his family paid a ransom of about $800.
José Ricardo Galindo Valdés was the last victim. He was kidnapped on December 13, 2005. His mother pleaded for his life, but he was ultimately allowed to leave with a threat against his life if he spoke of the incident. Marroquín was eventually arrested on January 23, 2006. He was sentenced to 128 years in prison on September 4, 2008. After his arrest, he expressed no remorse and stated that he would do it again if given the chance.
