Bio

Perry Samuel was born in 1971. He grew up in the United Kingdom but specific details about his early life and childhood are not widely known. As he became an adult, Perry faced significant challenges. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, at the age of 27. This condition led him to experience extreme mood swings, and he often struggled with mental health issues.

Throughout his life, Perry Samuel sought treatment for his mental illness. He was admitted to psychiatric hospitals multiple times. His first hospitalization was in March 1998, where he spent about a month. In January 1999, he was sectioned, meaning he was legally detained for treatment due to his mental health struggles. Afterward, he dealt with several episodes of depression and manic behavior.

Perry had a complicated relationship with Sarah Graham, the mother of his two children. The couple went through a separation for a time, partly because of Perry's mental health issues. During this period, Sarah started dating another man. However, they later reconciled and began living together again.

Perry Samuel was known to friends and family as a devoted father. He had two young children, Caitlin and Aidan. While he appeared to care for them, his ongoing mental health issues and struggles within his relationship created a troubled background that would greatly impact their lives.

Murder Story

On November 5, 2006, in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, Wales, Perry Samuel suffocated his two children, Caitlin, age 5, and Aiden, age 3. Samuel was caring for them while their mother, Sarah Graham, was at a pop concert in Manchester. After taking the children for dinner, he brought them home and gave them a bath.

Later that night, shortly before 11 PM, Samuel made a 999 call to police, saying, "There's a problem with the children." When the police arrived, they found Caitlin and Aiden unresponsive in the bathtub. Samuel was alone in the house at that time. The children were quickly taken to the hospital, but they were pronounced dead shortly after.

Samuel was arrested at the scene. He was questioned by police for several days but did not explain the reasons or circumstances surrounding the deaths. An investigation revealed that he had smothered both children as a form of revenge against their mother, whom he suspected of infidelity. Despite his mental health struggles, he eventually admitted to killing his children.

Perry Samuel was charged with murder and, on March 8, 2007, he was sentenced to life in prison. He was ordered to serve a minimum of 35 years before being eligible for parole. The case triggered a review of how local health and social services had dealt with Samuel's mental health issues prior to the murders.
