Bio

Pablo Lucio Vasquez was born on August 11, 1977, in Dawson County, Texas. He grew up in Hidalgo County, where he spent most of his early life. His family was Hispanic, and details about his family background are limited. As a child, he faced challenges that affected his upbringing.

In school, Pablo completed up to the eighth grade before leaving. His education was not extensive, and he did not pursue further studies. He had no prior prison record before becoming involved in serious crimes.

As a young adult, Vasquez was around 20 years old when he was involved in significant incidents that changed his life. During this period, he struggled with alcohol and drugs. This lifestyle would later play a role in his actions and decisions. His life in Hidalgo County, surrounded by crowd influences, may have impacted his behavior and choices.

Vasquez was known to have a certain height and build, standing at 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing around 174 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes. These physical characteristics were part of his identity as a young man in Texas, but little is known about his personality or interests during his formative years.

Murder Story

On April 18, 1998, in Donna, Texas, Pablo Lucio Vasquez and his cousin, Andy Chapa, killed a 12-year-old boy named David Cardenas. They met David at a local party. Late that night, Vasquez struck David's head with a metal pipe. Then, he used a knife to slit David's throat.

After the murder, Vasquez confessed that he drank David's blood. He and Chapa then attempted to hide the body by burying it in a vacant field. They took some of David's jewelry, including a ring and a necklace.

David's body was found five days later, on April 22, 1998. It was badly dismembered and hidden under aluminum slabs. His mother and family reported David missing, but it took time because they thought he was with relatives.

During the investigation, Vasquez mentioned that he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the murder. He later said he felt urged on by the "devil" during the crime.

As a result of his actions, Vasquez was sentenced to death on March 30, 1999. Chapa faced charges as well, but due to his age, he was tried differently. Others were also implicated in the cover-up of the crime.
