Flowers was born on March 15, 1974, in Compton, California. Compton is a place known for poverty and violence. He grew up in a family that did not get along well and faced many problems.
As a child, Flowers went through a lot of tough times. He suffered from physical and sexual abuse. At one point, he was even abandoned and left alone.
In 1993, Flowers got into serious trouble with the law. He was found guilty of burglary, robbery, and setting a fire that killed a dog. This led to him being convicted and sent to prison.
Six years later, in 1999, Flowers was again convicted for using a deadly weapon unlawfully and for another burglary. After serving his time for these crimes, he was released from prison in 2003.
murder story
In early 2005, Flowers went on a crime spree in Las Vegas, burglarizing three apartments and attacking the women inside. He brutally beat, raped, and strangled each victim to death. All of the women he killed were connected to him through his two girlfriends.
In 2004, Flowers met Debra Quarles and started a relationship with her. He also met Debra's 18-year-old daughter, Sheila, and fathered a child around this time. However, Flowers and Debra eventually broke up. On March 24, 2005, Sheila stayed home from her job at Starbucks while her mother went to work. Flowers entered the apartment and attacked Sheila in the bathroom, beating, raping, and strangling her. He left her body in the bathtub filled with hot water and took her cell phone, bank card, and jewelry. Debra found her daughter’s body later that day. Police collected male DNA from Sheila's body, and Flowers comforted Debra afterward, even suggesting she seek counseling. He then began dating another woman, Mawusi Ragland, who he had known since the early 1990s.
On May 4, Flowers committed his last two murders within eight hours. He broke into Marilee Coote’s apartment, where he beat, raped, and strangled her to death. Later, he knocked on Juanita Curry’s door, but she did not answer. A few hours after that, he burglarized Rena Gonzalez’s apartment, where he raped and strangled her with a telephone cord. That same night, Flowers tried to kiss another woman in the apartment complex, but she rejected him.
A few days later, Flowers was questioned about the murders but denied any involvement. On June 6, 2005, he was arrested and charged with Marilee Coote's murder, thanks to DNA evidence. After his arrest, the murders stopped, making him the prime suspect. DNA testing linked him to the other murders as well. Although another man's DNA was found on Sheila, he was cleared of suspicion as he had an alibi.
Flowers went to trial for Sheila's murder in 2008, with prosecutors seeking the death penalty. In October 2008, the jury found him guilty, but during the sentencing phase, his mother pleaded for his life, and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. He was also scheduled for trial for the murders of Coote and Gonzalez. In June 2011, Flowers entered an Alford plea, acknowledging that there was enough evidence to convict him without admitting guilt. He received two more life sentences in August 2011 and is currently serving his sentence at High Desert State Prison in Clark County, Nevada.
In February 2023, Las Vegas police linked Flowers' DNA to another murder: the October 2004 killing of Keysha Brown. Investigators believe Brown was his first victim. She was found dead in her bathtub, having been stabbed, beaten, strangled, and sexually assaulted.
