Narcisa "Narcy" Véliz Pacheco was born in 1956 in Ecuador. She later moved to the United States, where she worked as a stripper in Hialeah, Florida. In the late 1980s, Narcy met Ben Novack Jr., the son of Ben Novack Sr., who built the famed Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. The couple married in 1991 and settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Their marriage was marked by tumultuous events, including a reported home invasion in 2002, during which Ben was bound and robbed; Narcy was suspected of involvement but no charges were filed.
murder story
In 2009, Narcy Novack orchestrated the murders of her husband, Ben Novack Jr., and her mother-in-law, Bernice Novack, motivated by greed and fear of losing access to the family fortune. On April 4, 2009, Bernice Novack was found dead in her Fort Lauderdale home. Initially deemed an accidental fall, further investigation revealed she had been bludgeoned to death. Three months later, on July 12, 2009, Ben Novack Jr. was found murdered in a hotel room in Rye Brook, New York. He had been bound and brutally beaten to death. Investigations uncovered that Narcy had hired hitmen, including Alejandro Garcia and Joel Gonzalez, to carry out both murders, with assistance from her brother, Cristobal Veliz.
In July 2010, Narcy Novack and Cristobal Veliz were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including racketeering, domestic violence, stalking, money laundering, and witness tampering. Their trial began in April 2012 in a federal court in White Plains, New York. Prosecutors presented evidence of Narcy's involvement in orchestrating the murders to gain control over Ben Novack Jr.'s multimillion-dollar estate. In June 2012, both Narcy and Cristobal were found guilty on all counts. On December 17, 2012, they were each sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Narcy Novack is currently serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida. Her brother, Cristobal Veliz, is incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary, Big Sandy, in Inez, Kentucky. Due to the application of the slayer rule, Narcy was ineligible to inherit her husband's estate, which was subsequently awarded to Ben Novack Jr.'s stepdaughter, May Abad, and her two sons.
