Narcisa “Narcy” Véliz Pacheco was born in 1956 in Ecuador and immigrated to the United States as a young woman, eventually settling in Florida. Very little is known about her early life before her marriage, but she worked her way into affluent social circles through her marriage to Ben Novack Jr., heir to the legendary Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel fortune. Ben was the son of Ben Novack Sr., who had built and owned the iconic hotel before selling it in 1977, and Bernice Novack, a prominent South Florida socialite.
Narcy and Ben’s marriage was tumultuous and marked by accusations of infidelity, manipulation, and escalating resentment. Although Ben was known for his business ventures and wealthy lifestyle, he reportedly had numerous affairs, including a high-profile relationship with adult film actress Rebecca Bliss. Narcy, meanwhile, was said to have a controlling and volatile personality, and their relationship became increasingly toxic.
At the time of their marriage, the couple had a prenuptial agreement stipulating that Narcy would receive only $65,000 in the event of a divorce. As Ben’s marriage deteriorated and his plans to leave her became more apparent, Narcy’s financial future — and her access to his multi‑million‑dollar estate — was under threat.
murder story
In 2009, Narcy Novack orchestrated the murders of her husband, Ben Novack Jr., and her mother-in-law, Bernice Novack, motivated by greed and fear of losing access to the family fortune. On April 4, 2009, Bernice Novack was found dead in her Fort Lauderdale home. Initially deemed an accidental fall, further investigation revealed she had been bludgeoned to death. Three months later, on July 12, 2009, Ben Novack Jr. was found murdered in a hotel room in Rye Brook, New York. He had been bound and brutally beaten to death. Investigations uncovered that Narcy had hired hitmen, including Alejandro Garcia and Joel Gonzalez, to carry out both murders, with assistance from her brother, Cristobal Veliz.
In July 2010, Narcy Novack and Cristobal Veliz were arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including racketeering, domestic violence, stalking, money laundering, and witness tampering. Their trial began in April 2012 in a federal court in White Plains, New York. Prosecutors presented evidence of Narcy's involvement in orchestrating the murders to gain control over Ben Novack Jr.'s multimillion-dollar estate. In June 2012, both Narcy and Cristobal were found guilty on all counts. On December 17, 2012, they were each sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Narcy Novack is currently serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida. Her brother, Cristobal Veliz, is incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary, Big Sandy, in Inez, Kentucky. Due to the application of the slayer rule, Narcy was ineligible to inherit her husband's estate, which was subsequently awarded to Ben Novack Jr.'s stepdaughter, May Abad, and her two sons.
