Miranda Kamille Dean was born on December 14, 1994, in North Pole, Alaska. Her early life was marked by significant trauma; at the age of four, she was sexually abused by her uncle, Richard Fernandez, who was later convicted and sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Miranda claimed that at 13, she became involved with a satanic cult in Alaska, where she alleged her participation in multiple murders under the cult's influence. However, these claims remain unsubstantiated, with law enforcement agencies, including the Alaska State Troopers, finding no evidence to support her assertions.
In 2013, Miranda married Elytte Barbour, and the couple relocated to Pennsylvania. They had a daughter together. Miranda's life took a dark turn as she began advertising "companionship" services on Craigslist, a platform she later used to lure their victim.
murder story
On November 11, 2013, Miranda and Elytte Barbour orchestrated the murder of 42-year-old Troy LaFerrara. Miranda posted an ad on Craigslist offering companionship for money, which LaFerrara responded to. They arranged to meet at the Susquehanna Valley Mall parking lot in Hummels Wharf, Pennsylvania. After settling on a $100 payment, Miranda drove LaFerrara to Sunbury.
Unbeknownst to LaFerrara, Elytte was hiding in the backseat under a blanket. Upon a prearranged signal from Miranda, Elytte emerged and used a cord to strangle LaFerrara while Miranda stabbed him approximately 20 times. They then dumped his body in a residential backyard in Sunbury, where it was discovered the following day.
Following the murder, the couple attempted to clean the vehicle using bleach wipes and other cleaning agents before going out for dinner. Their initial denials unraveled when police traced the last call from LaFerrara's phone to Miranda's, leading to their arrests. Both were charged with homicide, and in September 2014, they pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, receiving life sentences without the possibility of parole.
Miranda later claimed involvement in at least 22 other murders across the United States as part of a satanic cult. These assertions garnered significant media attention but were met with skepticism from law enforcement agencies, which found no evidence to substantiate her claims.
