Bio

Miranda Barbour was born in 1992. Her family included her mother, Elizabeth, her father, Sonny, and an older sister named Ashley. They lived in North Pole, Alaska, early in her life.

When Miranda was four years old, she was sexually abused by a relative. Her mother later confirmed the relative was arrested and convicted for sexual assault of a minor. The family moved south in Alaska to the Wasilla and Palmer area after that.

By the time she was 12, Miranda began running away from home. She later said she met a 25-year-old man known as Forrest who practiced satanic beliefs. Her mother said Miranda told her that Forrest “owned” her and that he had branded her. Miranda also said she began prostituting at a young age.

Miranda had problems with drugs as a teenager. Family friends and her mother said she was put into the North Star behavioral center in Anchorage several times for drug and behavioral issues. Her father has said she became addicted to heroin.

She became pregnant while still a teenager and gave birth to a daughter named Aria. Miranda later said she had other difficult pregnancies and described a forced abortion while involved with the group she named. Her mother said she took Miranda to a doctor who found no signs of an ended pregnancy. Reports also say Miranda had a son and that the child’s father later died.

After her parents divorced in 2011, Miranda moved to North Carolina to live with her uncle Arlin Fletcher and his wife, LaRea. People who knew her said she seemed to settle there for a time. She met Elytte Barbour while living in North Carolina and the two were married on October 22, 2013.

Miranda lived in Alaska, Florida, and North Carolina during her youth. She told reporters she had worked as a go-go dancer in Mexico Beach, Florida, when she was about 15. Family members and friends described her as troubled and said she had a history of running away, drug use, and unstable behavior.

Murder Story

Miranda Barbour was born in 1992 and is classified as a murderer. On November 11, 2013, Troy LaFerrara, 42, responded to a Craigslist ad and was later found dead in Sunbury, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. The victim's body was discovered the next day. Miranda Barbour and her husband, Elytte Barbour, were later charged in connection with the death.

Police say the couple met LaFerrara through an online ad. Investigators linked the victim to Miranda Barbour by phone records. Authorities charged both Miranda and Elytte with criminal homicide and related offenses. Miranda Barbour was arrested on December 6, 2013, and is in prison awaiting trial.

In jailhouse interviews, Miranda Barbour claimed she had killed many more people. She said she had killed between 22 and 100 victims and that she stopped counting after 22. She described being involved with a group she called a satanic cult and said she used the name "Super Miranda" for an alter ego. She also told reporters she kept a favored knife with notches to mark victims and offered to show authorities where bodies could be found. Law enforcement in several states reviewed her claims, and the FBI had contact with local police. Prosecutors have sought the death penalty in the case.
