Murder Story

In 1987, Michael Robert Tucker and his accomplice, Bryan Mikesell, planned to commit robbery. They targeted the home of Robert and Barbara Farmer, a couple in their 70s living in Polk County, Oregon. When they reached the Farmers' house, they discovered the couple was home.

As the burglarizing began, Mikesell became hesitant and wanted to leave. However, Tucker chose to go inside the house. While Mikesell waited outside, Tucker shot Robert and Barbara. After the murders, Tucker and Mikesell ransacked the home but missed finding $2,500 in cash that the Farmers had hidden in a freezer.

After the crime, both men were arrested. In 1988, a jury convicted Tucker of aggravated murder and sentenced him to death. However, this sentence was later overturned due to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 1989. Eventually, he was resentenced to 60 years in prison. Mikesell received a life sentence for his role in the crime.
