Bio

Michael Nicholaou was born in 1949. He grew up in New Jersey. He claimed that his mother abused him and that his father was violent. This caused him to seek out father figures in his life. He found these figures in friends and army leaders.

In high school, Nicholaou was known for his bravery. He rode a motorcycle and was an athlete. After high school, he joined the military and became a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He served in the 335th Assault Helicopter Company and received many medals for his bravery, including two Purple Hearts and two Silver Stars. However, his military career was not without controversy. In 1970, he was accused of committing crimes during the war but was not charged after spending time in a stockade.

After returning home, Nicholaou struggled with issues related to his military experience. He moved from place to place, including different cities in Virginia, Massachusetts, and Florida. He opened a sex shop at one point, which later faced legal issues.

He married a woman named Michelle Ashley, with whom he had two children. Their relationship was troubled, and Michelle eventually went missing in December 1988. Family members were concerned for her safety and believed that Michael might have been involved in her disappearance.

Nicholaou then relocated several times before eventually marrying Aileen Nicholaou. Their relationship also became troubled. In the years leading up to the tragic events of December 31, 2005, when Nicholaou committed suicide after a violent confrontation with Aileen and her daughter, Nicholaou's history and troubled behavior raised many questions about his past.

Murder Story

On December 31, 2005, Michael Nicholaou tracked down his estranged wife, Aileen, to her sister's home in Tampa, Florida. Aileen had left him after suffering an injury from a physical altercation. That day, Michael arrived at the house dressed in a black suit and tie, carrying a guitar case that contained firearms. He went inside and led Aileen and her daughter, Taryn Bowman, to a bedroom.

After Aileen's sister, Audrey Leon, sensed something was wrong and went to call the police, Michael barricaded himself and the two women inside the room. During this time, Audrey heard several loud gunshots coming from the bedroom. Police arrived quickly and attempted to communicate with Michael, but he did not respond.

Eventually, a tactical response team entered the room. Inside, they found Aileen and Taryn both shot. Michael Nicholaou had also turned the gun on himself. Aileen and Michael were pronounced dead at the scene, while Taryn was sent to the hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries as well.

This incident marked the tragic end of Michael Nicholaou's life and raised many questions about other unsolved cases linked to him, including the longstanding mystery of his first wife, Michelle Ashley, who had disappeared years earlier.
