1998Michael B. Singley was born in 1977. He grew up in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Information about his early life is limited. There are no detailed reports about his childhood or family background available.
As he grew up, Singley had some interactions with his family, including his cousin, Travis Rohrer. However, the specifics of his relationships and upbringing are not well documented in public records.
On November 3, 1998, Michael B. Singley committed two murders in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He went to the home of his cousin, Travis Rohrer, under the pretense of needing help with car trouble. Once there, he bound Travis's wife, Christine Rohrer, with duct tape and assaulted her. He then stabbed her multiple times.
When Travis Rohrer returned home, he confronted Singley. In the struggle, Singley stabbed and shot Travis but he survived the attack. As he left the scene, Singley encountered Jim Gilliam, who was Travis's neighbor. Singley shot Jim Gilliam in the chest, killing him.
The next day, Singley was arrested. In August 2000, he pled guilty to first-degree murder for killing Christine Rohrer. A month later, he was found guilty of first-degree murder again for the death of Jim Gilliam. Later, the court sentenced Singley to death for Christine's murder and life in prison without the possibility of parole for Gilliam's murder. He also received additional time for other charges including attempted murder and rape.
Singley's execution was initially scheduled for April 6, 2006, but a federal judge issued a delay after he requested an attorney. Since then, his execution has faced further delays, and the process has continued through various appeals. He remains incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution Greene.
