1985Mariano Juarez Rosales was born on July 2, 1939. He grew up in a family in the United States. As he grew older, he became a businessman in Houston, Texas.
Mariano married Mary Rosales, and together they had six children. They lived together for many years. However, their marriage began to have problems in the early 1980s. In 1984, Mariano and Mary started experiencing marital difficulties. By January 1985, Mary began seeing another man named Hector Balboa.
In February 1985, Mary moved into a trailer that she and Mariano owned. She was spending time with Hector, who lived with his mother and sisters. Despite their issues, Mariano and Mary continued to see each other regularly. At one point, Mariano asked Mary about her relationship with Hector, and she admitted that she was indeed seeing him.
The couple tried to work on their marriage, and on March 29, 1985, Mary agreed to seek counseling with Mariano. However, she had plans to meet Hector that evening. Mariano wanted her to come home early, but she ended up staying at Hector's house. Mariano was last seen on the morning of March 30, 1985, after having been out with a friend the night before.
On March 30, 1985, Mariano Juarez Rosales committed a series of murders in Harris County, Texas. In the early morning, after a night of heavy drinking, Rosales sought out his estranged wife, Mary, who was with another man named Hector Balboa.
Rosales called Hector's home to obtain the address. Once he had the directions, he went to the house with a pistol. Without warning, he entered and found Pete Rodriguez, who was watching television. Rosales shot Pete point blank in the head, killing him instantly. He then turned the weapon on Patricia Balboa, Hector's sister, shooting her twice as well.
Afterward, Rosales moved to the back of the house where 15-year-old Rachel Balboa was asleep. He shot her twice, causing fatal injuries. Next, he approached Hector’s room and fired shots through the door, hitting Hector. A struggle ensued, resulting in both men being shot.
Hector managed to escape outside, and Rosales chased him while still pointing his gun. He pulled the trigger multiple times but the gun had run out of ammunition. After the shootings, Rosales got into his truck and left the scene. Two of the victims survived, but Pete Rodriguez and Rachel Balboa did not.
Mariano Juarez Rosales was later arrested and sentenced to death on December 27, 1985.
