Bio

Marcelo Kenji Yoshino was born in 1974 in Brazil. Little is known about his early childhood or family background. He grew up in an environment that shaped his personality and interests. As a young adult, he became an employee of the Sao Paulo State Sanitation Company.

During his time at the company, Marcelo developed feelings for a co-worker named Valeria Lellis. His feelings for her became intense and unrequited. Valeria did not return his affections, which led to a series of troubling behaviors.

Due to his persistent stalking and harassment, Marcelo faced consequences at work. Six months before the tragic event, he was transferred to another unit of the company. Despite this transfer, he continued to visit his former office in hopes of seeing Valeria. Marcelo was also referred to a psychologist for help with his behavior.

His life took a dark turn on December 18, 1996, when he decided to confront Valeria and several of their coworkers.

Murder Story

On December 18, 1996, Marcelo Kenji Yoshino entered the offices of the Sao Paulo State Sanitation Company with a Glock 9 mm pistol concealed inside a gift package. He was 22 years old and had recently been transferred to another unit at the company due to his stalking behavior. His focus was on a co-worker named Valeria Lellis, who had rejected his advances.

Once in the office, Marcelo searched for Valeria. He fired at her and other coworkers, killing three women, including Valeria, their supervisor, and another female employee. In addition, he wounded two men during this attack.

After the shooting, Marcelo took his own life in the office.
