Bio

Lorenzo Bahena Sanchez was born on November 1, 1971. He grew up in Texas, but not much information is available about his early life. He had a history of criminal activity, starting with minor offenses that led to various arrests. Over time, his crimes escalated, and he became more involved in serious offenses.

In the years leading up to his arrest, Sanchez was known to have committed several burglaries. Law enforcement officials were aware of his activities and had been monitoring him. His lifestyle led him to move between Texas and Minnesota, where he eventually settled. By the late 1990s, Sanchez was living in Minnesota.

Murder Story

On April 20, 1999, Lorenzo Bahena Sanchez committed the murder of 12-year-old Cally Jo Larson in her home in Waseca County, Minnesota. Cally was found dead after returning from school. She had been stabbed in the chest and was discovered hanging by her neck. The investigation revealed that she had also been sexually assaulted.

Following the crime, authorities worked tirelessly to gather evidence and identify a suspect. For months, many leads were pursued and numerous interviews were conducted, but no arrests were made immediately. On February 18, 2000, Sanchez was arrested in connection with a series of burglaries. He was found carrying tools used for breaking and entering. As the investigation progressed, various pieces of evidence linked him to Cally's murder.

Sanchez was indicted by a grand jury in July 2000 for first-degree murder. His case was marked by pre-trial hearings that revolved around the legality of his arrest and the evidence obtained afterward. The legal proceedings included discussions about DNA evidence and Sanchez's rights as a Mexican citizen.

Eventually, on March 5, 2001, Sanchez pleaded guilty to the premeditated first-degree murder of Cally Jo Larson. He was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum of 30 years before he would be eligible for parole.
