— Lloyd Massey II
Lloyd Massey II was born on September 4, 1979, and grew up in Pleasantville, New Jersey, near Atlantic City. He attended Pleasantville High School, where he played football, and later worked as a casino security guard in Atlantic City. At 21 years old, he was living as a working young adult in the same community as the men who would later become his victims.
During the early morning of September 8, 2000, four men were riding in a Honda Accord on U.S. Route 30 near Atlantic City after an earlier dispute. Investigators said Lloyd Massey II followed the car and positioned his vehicle in front of them at a traffic light on the White Horse Pike.
Armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, Massey stepped out and fired multiple rounds into the car. Richard White Jr. and Michael Demps were killed inside the vehicle. Driver Lamont Wilson tried to escape but was also shot and killed. Terrence Harris survived with injuries.
After the attack, Massey fled to Georgia but was arrested within days after police received information about his whereabouts. He waived extradition and was returned to New Jersey to face trial.
On June 12, 2002, a jury found him guilty of three murders, attempted murder, and weapons charges. He was later sentenced on September 19, 2002, to three consecutive life terms plus 20 years in prison, where he remains incarcerated.
