Li Hao was born in 1977 in Henan Province, China. He worked as a clerk at the local technological supervision bureau and was previously employed as a firefighter. At the time of his arrest, he was married and had an eight-month-old son. Li led a double life; while maintaining a facade of normalcy with his family, he secretly constructed a dungeon beneath a residential building in Luoyang City in 2009. He deceived his wife by claiming he had a night job, allowing him to spend extended periods in the dungeon without raising suspicion. There is limited public information about his early life, education, or any prior criminal behavior.
murder story
Between 2009 and 2011, Li Hao abducted six women aged between 16 and 23, luring them with promises of work or money. He confined them in a self-built underground dungeon equipped with seven iron doors to prevent escape. Over periods ranging from two to 21 months, Li repeatedly raped the women, forced them into prostitution, and compelled them to perform in pornographic web shows, which he monetized online.
In July 2010, after one captive, Zhang Xuanxuan, resisted his control, Li coerced another captive, Duan Moumou, into assisting him in strangling Zhang to death. Her body was buried within the dungeon. In July 2011, another victim, Cai Moumou, was deemed "uncooperative" and was subjected to severe abuse, including being forced to consume feces and urine. She eventually died from the mistreatment, and her body was concealed in a concrete pool within the dungeon.
The case came to light in September 2011 when one of the captives, Ma Moumou, managed to escape and alert the authorities. Police rescued the remaining women and arrested Li Hao on September 6, 2011. His sister, Li Yuan, was also arrested for aiding his attempted escape and was sentenced to probation.
On November 30, 2012, the Luoyang Intermediate People's Court convicted Li Hao of multiple charges, including murder, rape, illegal detention, organized prostitution, and producing obscene materials for profit. He was sentenced to death, a verdict upheld by higher courts. Li Hao was executed on January 21, 2014.
