1992Lemuel Prion was born on April 27, 1962. He was later connected to a serious crime that happened in Tucson, Arizona. By the 1990s, Prion was in and out of the legal system. He was arrested multiple times for various offenses. By the time he was arrested on October 31, 1997, he was already an adult living in a complex world.
On October 22, 1992, a young woman named Diana Vicari was murdered in Tucson, Arizona. Her arms were discovered in a trash dumpster on October 24, 1992, wrapped in plastic bags. These remains were identified through fingerprint analysis. The rest of Diana's body was never found.
Lemuel Prion was later connected to Diana's murder. He reportedly bragged about taking a woman out to the desert, committing acts of violence, and dismembering her body. This information eventually led to his arrest on October 31, 1997, while he was serving time in a prison in Utah for a separate crime.
During the investigation, Prion was also tied to a kidnapping incident in late 1992. He had threatened another woman with a knife, which became part of the charges against him. His trial began on January 12, 1999, and he was found guilty on January 28, 1999. He was sentenced to death on August 20, 1999.
However, in August 2002, the Arizona Supreme Court overturned Prion's conviction. The court ruled that the trial had excluded evidence that pointed to another suspect, John Mazure. The court stated there was no physical evidence connecting Prion to Diana’s murder. As a result, all charges against Prion were dismissed on March 14, 2003. He remained incarcerated for unrelated offenses in Utah.
