murder story

Lázaro Barbosa de Sousa committed a series of violent crimes in June 2021. On June 9, he attacked a family in Ceilândia, killing three members: Cláudio Vidal, aged 48, and his two sons, Gustavo Marques, aged 21, and Carlos Eduardo Marques, aged 15. He kidnapped Cleonice Marques, the wife and mother of the victims, but she was later found dead three days later.

The next day, June 10, Lázaro broke into another property nearby. He held the owner and the caretaker hostage for three hours. During this time, he forced them to cook for him and drink alcohol together. He didn't kill anyone during this incident but did steal cellphones, a jacket, and cash.

On June 11, he stole a car in Ceilândia and drove it to Cocalzinho de Goiás. To hinder the police, he set the car on fire. The following day, he invaded another smallholding, held a caretaker hostage, but did not rob or hurt him.

On June 13, Lázaro continued to evade capture and stole another car. He kept hiding in the woods as police searched for him. June 14 had no confirmed sightings of him. On June 15, he was involved in a shooting with police, injuring one officer but seemingly escaping unharmed.

By June 16, Lázaro had taken three hostages from a house after evading police again. One of the hostages sent a message to the police for help while hiding. Lázaro released the hostages upon seeing police helicopters but managed to escape.

Over the next several days, he continued to avoid police capture while exchanging gunfire with law enforcement multiple times. He was spotted various times but never apprehended. Police later arrested two men who were believed to be helping him hide.

On June 28, Lázaro was discovered at his ex-mother-in-law's house. He engaged in another shootout with the police during an attempted capture and was shot. He died from gunshot wounds at the scene.
