On March 18, 1997, Laxma G. Reddy committed a triple murder in Brookline, Massachusetts. He shot his wife, her 13-year-old daughter, and his father-in-law in their home. The victims were killed execution-style while they were in their beds.
Three days later, Reddy encountered law enforcement in Elko, Nevada. He was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy after he pulled out a gun during a traffic stop. Prior to this encounter, police had been searching for him. They had identified him as the main suspect in the murders after discovering that the killer had used a key to access the apartment where the bodies were found.
Investigators traced Reddy back to Cleveland, Ohio, where he had been residing during his medical residency. Friends reported that he had recently visited his family in Brookline but had not been seen for weeks following the murders.
