2010Kristi Anne Abrahams was born in 1983 in Australia. She had a difficult childhood filled with challenges. When she was just ten years old, Kristi found her mother dead. This tragic event led to years of instability in her life as she moved in and out of foster care. Kristi faced numerous difficulties, including physical abuse and neglect, particularly from her father, who struggled with substance abuse and spent much of his life in prison.
Kristi's early years were marked by a lack of love and support, which affected her emotional and social development. Court records later revealed that she had an intellectual disability that made it hard for her to cope with the responsibilities of adulthood. By the time she became a mother, Kristi was reported to be overwhelmed by parental duties.
In 2005, when Kristi’s daughter Kiesha was a mere 15 months old, she bit her daughter on the shoulder, which led to an investigation and the temporary removal of Kiesha from her mother's care. This incident highlighted the ongoing issues in Kristi’s parenting, as she was required to attend anger management classes before she could regain custody of Kiesha.
Kristi Abrahams became known as a troubled individual who struggled to care for her daughter amidst her own unresolved childhood trauma. The challenges she faced were reflected in her interactions with Kiesha. Neighbors and child services noted signs of distress and abuse in Kiesha’s life, which went unaddressed for an extended period. Abrahams' life experiences contributed to her challenges as a parent.
On July 18, 2010, Kristi Abrahams caused the death of her six-year-old daughter, Kiesha Weippeart. On that day, an incident occurred in their home in Mount Druitt, Sydney, Australia. After struggling to put Kiesha to bed, Kristi admitted to nudging her daughter with her foot. Kiesha became unresponsive during this exchange and was later found dead the next morning.
Kristi had a troubled history and had been abusing Kiesha for a long time. After the incident, rather than seeking medical help, Kristi and her partner, Robert Smith, concealed Kiesha’s body. They placed her remains in a suitcase and kept them in their home for several days.
Eventually, the couple decided to dispose of Kiesha's body. They traveled to a bushland area in Shalvey, where they burned her remains before burying them. Kristi and Robert were arrested on April 22, 2011, after authorities found Kiesha's body a short distance from their home.
Kiesha had been reported missing by Kristi and Robert in August 2010. However, investigations led police to suspect foul play due to inconsistencies in their statements.
An autopsy was performed, but the exact cause of Kiesha's death could not be determined. Kristi pleaded guilty to the murder of her daughter in 2013 and was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in prison. This case highlights the tragic reality of child abuse and the failures in the system meant to protect vulnerable children.
