Murder Story

Kelley Lynn Gann was born in 1981. On October 24, 2012, a 3-month-old girl in Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas, died while in Gann’s care. Gann was working as the baby's babysitter that day.

Shortly before the baby was to be picked up by her mother, Gann called 911 and reported the child was not breathing. The baby was taken to Oak Bend Medical Center and was pronounced dead about 5:15 p.m. Investigators noted injuries on the child’s body.

Former Galveston County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Stephen Pustilnik performed an autopsy. The autopsy found multiple skull fractures. The autopsy report said the baby died from blunt force trauma to her head and that multiple impacts had occurred.

Rosenberg police investigated the case. Gann was arrested the same day at the Rosenberg Police Department. She was charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury that resulted in death. Bail was set at $500,000.

Gann later pled guilty. On July 4, 2014, she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The case was handled by the Rosenberg Police Department with involvement from the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office and other investigators. The baby’s mother said the sentence provided justice and some closure for the family.
