April 23, 1999Keith Scavo was born in 1957. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Little is known about his early childhood or family background. As an adult, he entered into a marriage with Kimberly, and they had a daughter named Giavanna in 1993. At some point, Keith and Kimberly's marriage began to change. They faced challenges, including a divorce and custody disputes over their daughter.
Their relationship deteriorated over the years, which greatly impacted their family dynamics. Keith’s struggles during this period were evident, as he experienced escalating tension in his personal life. He became involved in a custody battle that would later have profound implications for him and his family.
The tensions in the relationship with Kimberly and the challenges of the custody fight were significant in shaping the events of his later life. Keith Scavo's actions eventually led to serious consequences after the breakup of his marriage. This breakdown coincided with a period of intense conflict that marked the final chapter of his life before his involvement in crimes that would lead to his arrest and conviction.
On March 23, 1997, Keith Scavo entered a house in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where his ex-wife Kimberly, her mother Tamar Carsello, and Kimberly's boyfriend Bill Sauer were present. Scavo was returning his 3-year-old daughter, Giavanna, from a custody visit. During this visit, a series of violent events occurred.
Scavo shot Kimberly, Tamar, and Bill in a sudden outburst of aggression. Giavanna was also injured during the shooting but survived. After the shootings, Scavo took his daughter and drove back to New Jersey, discarding the gun used in the crime into the Schuylkill River.
Scavo was later arrested after bringing Giavanna to a hospital for treatment of her wound. The police found Bill Sauer lying in the yard, shot in the face. Tamar was found inside the house with multiple gunshot wounds, and Kimberly had also sustained several gunshot injuries.
In his trial, Scavo defended himself, claiming a conspiracy against him. However, he was found guilty of the murders. In 1999, he was sentenced to death for the killings of Kimberly and Tamar, while receiving a life sentence for the murder of Bill Sauer. Scavo died in prison on February 10, 2001, due to a heart attack.
