murder story
Karla Homolka was involved in the tragic events between 1990 and 1992 when she and her husband, Paul Bernardo, committed a series of crimes in Ontario. They participated in the rapes and murders of at least three young girls, including Karla's own sister, Tammy Homolka.
On December 23, 1990, after drugging Tammy with an anesthetic, they assaulted her while she was unconscious. Tammy died that night, and her death was initially ruled an accident. Later, they attacked a 15-year-old girl known as "Jane Doe." They invited her to their home, drugged her, and videotaped the assaults. This victim survived but suffered severe trauma.
In June 1991, they abducted Leslie Mahaffy, a 14-year-old girl. Leslie was taken from her home, assaulted, and later murdered. The couple disposed of her body by dismembering it and encasing the parts in concrete before dumping them in a lake. Her remains were eventually discovered, leading to a police investigation.
In April 1992, they targeted 15-year-old Kristen French. After abducting her from near her school, they sexually assaulted her and later murdered her due to concerns that she could identify them. Kristen's body was found in a ditch shortly after her disappearance.
These events led to Karla being charged, but through a controversial plea deal, she was convicted of manslaughter and served only a brief prison sentence. Once released, she faced significant public backlash and continued media attention regarding her past actions.
