2005Joseph Young, also known as "Joe Black," was born in 1978 in Florida. He spent much of his early life in New Jersey. As a child, not much is publicly known about his family or upbringing. However, he later became involved with the criminal underworld during his teenage years.
Young’s path into crime began when he got a job as a bouncer at a restaurant called Fresca's on the Bay. This employment helped him connect with the Bonanno crime family, one of the notorious Mafia groups in New York. He became part of a crew on Staten Island led by a soldier named Gino Galestro. His work as a bouncer put him in contact with other members of the crime family and shaped his future.
In his early adulthood, Young faced some challenges, including a brief stint in the Marine Corps, from which he was discharged after two months. Following this, he continued to engage in criminal activities, leading him deeper into the Mafia lifestyle. He became known as a hitman within the Bonanno crime family.
Joseph Young’s life was marked by a series of criminal acts, and he was eventually convicted of murder related to his activities in the Bonanno crime family.
Joseph Young, also known as "Joe Black," was a hitman for the Bonanno crime family. He was involved in the murder of Robert McKelvey on March 29, 2005. Young lured McKelvey to the Kreischer Mansion in Staten Island, New York. At the mansion, he attempted to strangle McKelvey. However, McKelvey managed to escape and tried to flee.
Young chased McKelvey down and tackled him to the ground. He then repeatedly stabbed McKelvey with a knife. After that, Young dragged McKelvey's body to a nearby pond and drowned him. To further conceal the crime, Young and three other accomplices dismembered McKelvey's body using hacksaws. They then burned the pieces in the mansion's furnace.
After the murder, Young faced several other criminal charges, including arson and robbery. He was arrested and then convicted in October 2008. On January 27, 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of Robert McKelvey.
