murder story
Joseph Stanley Faulder was involved in a serious crime in Texas in 1975. He was convicted of killing Inez Scarborough Phillips, a 75-year-old woman, during a robbery in her home. After the crime, Faulder was quickly caught by the police. He was charged with murder and went to trial. In 1977, he was found guilty and received the death penalty.
Faulder spent several years on death row. During this time, there were efforts by the Canadian government to stop his execution. They made diplomatic complaints because Faulder was a Canadian citizen. However, these efforts did not succeed.
On June 17, 1999, Joseph Stanley Faulder was executed by lethal injection. This marked a significant moment as he became the first Canadian citizen executed in the United States since 1952. Just an hour before his execution, his final appeal was rejected. After his execution, he was buried at Captain Joe Byrd Cemetery.
