Bio

Jorge Alfredo Salinas was born on April 1, 1984, in Hidalgo County, Texas. He grew up in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. His upbringing was not well-documented, but it is known that he did not have a stable family life. As a child, Jorge struggled academically and had difficulties in school. By the time he reached high school, he had completed only about ten years of education.

In his teenage years, Jorge became involved in various activities that would later contribute to his legal troubles. He was noted to have a history of associating with peers who were known for engaging in delinquent behavior. This influenced his path as he entered adolescence. By the age of 17, he was working as a laborer, which is a role often associated with young men from his community, who were seeking to support themselves and their families.

Jorge became involved in illegal activities, which can be linked to his interactions with a group of friends. They often engaged in drug use and criminal behavior. This setting played a critical role in shaping his decisions and ultimately his path toward crime.

At the age of 17, Jorge was arrested for serious offenses that would change his life forever. He was noted to have no prior prison record before his involvement in these incidents. The legal consequences were severe and led to significant changes in his life trajectory.

By the time he faced trial in 2002, he was a young man of 18, dealing with serious charges and the repercussions of his actions, setting in motion a series of events that would lead his life down a dark path.

Murder Story

On July 28, 2001, Jorge Alfredo Salinas, along with two accomplices, committed a crime in Mission, Texas. They approached a car at a four-way stop where Geronimo Morales was driving with his 21-month-old daughter, Leslie Ann, in the backseat. One of the accomplices pointed a shotgun at Morales, forcing him to move to the passenger seat while Salinas got into the back seat.

The group threatened Morales and demanded money. After Morales revealed that he had no money, one accomplice became angry and beat him. They drove to a remote area, where the accomplice dragged Morales out of the car and fatally shot him with the shotgun. After stealing Morales' wallet and jewelry, they discussed what to do with Leslie Ann. One suggested they leave the child in a public place, but instead, they decided to abandon her in a hidden area of tall grass, approximately fifteen feet from the road.

Following this, they drove away in Morales' car and later attempted to sell it in Reynosa, Mexico. During their time in Mexico, they told a family member about what had occurred but made it sound as if they had only harmed someone, not killed him. The car was eventually abandoned after a police chase the following day.

The bodies of both Morales and his daughter Leslie Ann were discovered days later. Leslie Ann's body was found by border patrol officers, having died from dehydration and exposure. Morales' body was found a few days later, having died from a gunshot wound.

Salinas was arrested and charged with capital murder. He was convicted in August 2002 and initially sentenced to death. However, his sentence was later commuted to life in prison in June 2005 due to his age at the time of the crime, as he was seventeen years old.
