John Michael Hooker was born on October 9, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in a modest neighborhood. Details about his early childhood are limited, but he had a troubled youth. By the time he reached his teenage years, he was already involved in violence.

At the age of 17, in February 1971, John attended a party in the Hamilton Courts neighborhood. During the event, he got into an argument with another guest. This argument escalated into a scuffle, and John ended up pulling out a gun. He shot and killed an 18-year-old girl named Alta K. Lang. He also injured two other partygoers. Local police arrived quickly and arrested John, along with several others.

Because witnesses were uncooperative, John's initial murder charge was reduced. He was convicted of manslaughter and spent time in prison. After serving his sentence, John Hooker was released. He then started a relationship with a woman named Sylvia C. Stokes. They had several children together but never got married.

murder story

On February 13, 1971, John Michael Hooker shot and killed Alta K. Lang during a party. The incident started with an argument. Hooker pulled out a gun and opened fire, injuring two others. Police arrived and arrested Hooker along with three other men. Investigators found that Hooker's hands had gunpowder residue. Initially charged with murder, the case changed as witnesses were not helpful. Ultimately, Hooker was convicted of manslaughter and served time in prison.

After his release, Hooker began a relationship with Sylvia C. Stokes. They had several children but faced many problems. Stokes was afraid for her safety and filed a restraining order against Hooker. On March 27, 1988, Hooker broke into her apartment with a butcher knife and stabbed her to death. Stokes' mother, Drusilla Morgan, was also killed when she went to check on her daughter. Hooker left the scene with blood on his clothes and returned home.

Authorities arrested Hooker about nine days later. Evidence like witness testimony and bloody footprints linked him to the crime. When arrested, Hooker still had bloodstains on his pants and showed no remorse. He stood trial for the double murder and was found guilty. The evidence against him was strong, and he received a death sentence, which the victims' families supported.

John Michael Hooker fought his death sentence through various appeals. However, all were denied. In 2001, the FBI raised questions about the evidence in his case, leading to a review. DNA testing on his blood-stained pants confirmed that Hooker had killed both victims. After exhausting his appeals, he was executed by lethal injection on March 25, 2003. Before his execution, he spoke with a spiritual advisor and told witnesses he was at peace, saying, "Y'all stay up. I'm out."
