Bio

John Loveman Reese was born on March 29, 1965. He grew up in Florida. In his teenage years, Reese struggled with various issues. He was known to have a troubled background, which may have affected his relationships with others. He had a sometimes complicated relationship with his family and friends. This can sometimes lead to feelings of anger or jealousy, which can have long-lasting effects on a person's future.

Not much is reported about his schooling or academic performance. It is unclear where he attended school and how he performed there. As he reached adulthood, Reese became involved with a woman named Jackie Grier. Their relationship had ups and downs, and through Grier, he came to know her friend, Sharlene Austin.

Murder Story

On January 28, 1992, Sharlene Austin was found murdered in her home in Duval County, Florida. Her body was discovered by her friend, Jackie Grier, and a neighbor after they were unable to reach her. They entered through an unlocked door and found Austin covered with a sheet in her bedroom.

John Loveman Reese was implicated in the murder. He had known Austin through Grier, who was close friends with her. Reese often expressed jealousy towards Austin because of her friendship with Grier. When the police investigated, they found a handprint of Reese's on a waterbed in Austin's room. Reese later confessed to the crime during questioning. He stated that he had broken into her house and waited for her to come home.

After waiting for approximately four hours, he hid in a closet when Austin entered. After she fell asleep on the couch, Reese emerged and, in a moment of panic, dragged her into the bedroom. He assaulted and then strangled her with an electrical cord.

For these actions, Reese was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder, sexual battery, and burglary with assault. In 1993, he was found guilty on several counts and was sentenced to death. Over the following years, he faced multiple resentencing hearings where his death sentence was reaffirmed. In June 2000, Reese was again sentenced to death, and this ruling was upheld by the Florida Supreme Court in 2000.
