Bio

Jimmy Fletcher Meders was born in 1961. By 1987, Meders was living in Georgia and working for Randy Harris.

Murder Story

In the early morning of October 14, 1987, Jimmy Fletcher Meders was with Bill Arnold and Greg Creel in Glynn County, Georgia. The men had been drinking, and they later stopped at a convenience store where Don Anderson was working as the clerk.

Arnold stayed in the car while Meders and Creel went inside. Creel went to the back of the store to heat food. Meders went to the counter and made a small purchase. When Anderson opened the cash register, prosecutors said Meders shot him twice with a .38-caliber revolver.

After the shooting, money and food stamps were taken from the register. Meders was arrested later that day. Police found recorded bait money in his wallet, food stamps in his coat pocket, and the murder weapon under the mattress of his waterbed.

Meders was convicted of malice murder and armed robbery on April 7, 1989. He was sentenced to death. After many years of appeals, Meders was scheduled to be executed on January 16, 2020. That same day, the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles granted clemency and changed his sentence to life in prison without parole.
