Bio

Jesus Romero Jr. was born on February 3, 1965, in the United States. He grew up in a family of ten children and faced many challenges during his early life. As a young man, he lived as a migrant worker, moving for work and facing the tough realities that come with such a lifestyle. Reports suggest that his childhood was tumultuous.

In the years leading up to his adult life, Romero had encounters with the law, including instances of violence and sexual assault. By the time he was in his early twenties, he had already begun to face serious legal consequences for his actions. Despite these issues, he continued to have contact with family and acquaintances as he navigated his early adulthood.

Murder Story

On December 23, 1984, in Cameron County, Texas, a tragic event occurred involving Jesus Romero Jr. and three other young men. That night, 15-year-old Olga Lydia Perales was at a party when she was approached by Romero and his friends, David Lozado, Jose Cardenas, and Rafael Leyva Jr. The group had been drinking and using drugs. After the party ended, they offered Olga a ride.

Romero and his friends took Olga to a remote location by a lake known as La Piedra. There, they assaulted her. Each of the young men participated in the attack, which escalated from sexual assault to a brutal murder. They used a metal pipe to inflict severe injuries on Olga before ultimately stabbing her with a knife multiple times.

After the murder, the group attempted to hide the evidence. They discarded Olga’s belongings and disposed of the weapons used in the crime. The violence of the night continued to haunt the community, as the actions of Romero and his friends were not just individual but part of a coordinated effort among them.

Soon after, Leyva reported the events to his probation officer, leading to an investigation. As authorities gathered evidence, all four young men were arrested and charged with capital murder.

The prosecution presented multiple testimonies and evidence at the trial. The jury eventually found Jesus Romero guilty of capital murder. At the sentencing phase, they deemed him eligible for the death penalty due to the nature of the crime and his involvement in it.

Romero's legal battles continued after his conviction. He appealed the decision, arguing the effectiveness of his counsel and claiming that his mental health issues were not adequately considered. Despite these claims, the courts upheld the death sentence.

On May 20, 1992, Jesus Romero Jr. was executed by lethal injection in Texas. His last words were aimed at his mother, expressing love and urging his lawyer to do the same. He was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m.
