Bio

Jesse Dee Wise Jr., also known as "Jay," was born on July 24, 1984. He grew up in a challenging environment. Both of his parents were deceased by the time he was a young adult. After losing his parents, Jesse moved in with his maternal grandparents in Leola, Pennsylvania.

His early life was marked by instability. As a teenager, Jesse faced several legal issues. In the summer of 2004, he was charged with multiple crimes, including reckless driving and conspiracy to commit burglary. This criminal record indicated that he had difficulties following the rules and staying out of trouble.

Jesse spent a significant amount of time in juvenile detention. During his high school years, he struggled academically and personally. Reports suggest that he engaged in drug use, including cocaine, which may have affected his mental health.

Despite his challenges, Jesse's grandfather was a respected figure in his community. He was the founder of the Federation of Black Cowboys in New York, an organization that mentors urban youth. The family had moved from New York to Pennsylvania seeking a quieter and safer life away from the distractions of city living.

Living with his grandparents, Jesse had a complex relationship with family members. There were indications that he did not have significant conflicts with them before the tragic events in 2006. This period would set the stage for Jesse's later actions, though the reasons behind his choices would remain unclear.

Murder Story

Jesse Dee Wise Jr., also known as "Jay," committed a series of murders that shocked his community. The killings took place over April 8-9, 2006, in Leola, Pennsylvania. Wise murdered six family members in their shared home. His victims included his grandmother, two aunts, two cousins, and an uncle, ranging in age from 5 to 64 years old.

Wise first killed his cousin, Jesse James Wise, who was 17, by strangling him. Afterward, he bludgeoned another cousin, Skyler Wise, with a metal object. He went on to assault both of his aunts, Wanda and Agnes Wise, before strangling his grandmother, Emily Wise, and his 5-year-old cousin, Chance Wise. The coroner believed that all six victims died within seconds of each other.

The murders went undiscovered for several days. Wise was seen acting normally, even spending time with friends after the killings. It wasn't until a concerned neighbor checked on the family that the authorities were alerted. The neighbor found the bodies wrapped in sheets and blankets in the basement of the home.

Wise was arrested on April 12, 2006, just hours after the bodies were discovered. He confessed to the crimes and pleaded guilty to six counts of criminal homicide. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on June 14, 2007. In addition, he faced charges for an attempted homicide related to a plan to kill his grandfather in New York.

The investigation revealed that after the murders, Wise used his victims' money for a shopping spree, purchasing new clothes that were later found in his bedroom. During his time in court, he expressed remorse for his actions and accepted full responsibility for the crimes.
