Bio

Jerry K. Thompson was born on March 17, 1961. He grew up in a difficult environment that was marked by family issues. It was noted that he came from a dysfunctional family. However, specific details about his childhood and early education are limited.

Murder Story

In 1991, Jerry K. Thompson committed a series of murders in Indiana. His first known victim was Wesley Crandall, who was shot to death in his home on February 14, 1991. Evidence suggested that Thompson and an accomplice went to Crandall's house under the pretense of buying marijuana. During this encounter, Thompson shot Crandall and then stole several firearms that belonged to him. One of these handguns would later be used in subsequent murders.

On March 14, 1991, Thompson carried out a robbery at Hillis Auto Sales in Indianapolis. During this incident, Thompson shot and killed two men: Melvin Hillis, the owner of the auto sales, and his employee, Robert Beeler. The handgun he used for these murders was identified as the one he had stolen from Crandall.

Thompson's actions led to his arrest and trial. He was convicted of multiple counts of murder and robbery. On May 25, 1996, he was sentenced to death for his crimes. His legal battles continued for years, culminating in a retrial.

While on death row, Thompson was found dead on October 27, 2002, in the recreation area of his cellblock at the Indiana State Prison. He had suffered fatal stab wounds, and his death occurred while he was still appealing his death sentence from his earlier trial.
