Jeremy Anthony Michael Skibicki was born in Winnipeg in either 1986 or 1987 and was adopted by a Polish-Canadian family, while his birth mother was from Newfoundland and Labrador. Before the murders, he had a documented history of violent behavior toward intimate partners, both of whom were Indigenous women.
In 2015, he strangled and repeatedly punched a pregnant partner, threatening to kill her if she went to the police. She filed for a protection order, but it was dismissed, and Skibicki served only two months in prison followed by two years on probation. His abusive actions continued in later relationships.
By 2021, he was charged with violating court orders, threatening his wife, assaulting her with a weapon, and allegedly raping and suffocating her. She filed for divorce in May 2022. Investigations later revealed that Skibicki’s social media was filled with misogynistic, antisemitic, and white supremacist content.
He openly supported far-right ideologies and was affiliated with groups such as “Holy Europe” and the Alliance of Patriotic Parallel Movements of European Folks, which promote racial purity.
murder story
Between March and May 2022, Skibicki murdered four women: Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, and an unidentified woman who came to be known as Buffalo Woman. Contois, a 24-year-old mother from O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation, was killed around mid-May. Her partial remains were discovered in a dumpster on May 16. Harris, 39, and Myran, 26, both members of Long Plain First Nation, disappeared earlier in May.
Authorities believe they were killed and their remains disposed of at the Prairie Green Landfill. Buffalo Woman is believed to have been killed around March 15. On May 18, 2022, Skibicki was arrested after being linked to Contois’s murder.
On December 1, 2022, police announced that he had been charged with the murders of Harris, Myran, and Buffalo Woman. In a videotaped confession, Skibicki stated that he committed the killings because he believed it was something God had called him to do.
His trial was held without a jury, and on July 11, 2024, he was found guilty of all four counts of first-degree murder. The defense argued he was not criminally responsible due to schizophrenia, but the court rejected the claim, noting the calculated and graphic nature of the crimes as well as his explicitly racist motives.
On August 28, 2024, Skibicki was sentenced to four concurrent life sentences with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
