Jason Eric Massey was born on January 7, 1973, in Ellis County, Texas. He grew up in a difficult environment. His father was an alcoholic and his mother struggled with drug addiction. This led to a childhood filled with neglect and abuse. By the time he reached his teenage years, Massey was already a juvenile delinquent. He had a lengthy criminal record, with many offenses related to animal cruelty and stalking.

As a teenager, Massey's behavior became more troubling. His mother once took him to a psychiatric hospital after finding his journals. In these writings, he detailed his dark fantasies about violence and murder. He admired Charles Manson and identified with Satanism. He also expressed a strong desire to become a serial killer. Massey engaged in disturbing acts, such as torturing animals. He was known to decapitate and mutilate dogs, cats, and even cows. He would keep their skulls as trophies in coolers.

murder story

On July 27, 1993, Jason Eric Massey murdered two teenagers in his hometown. The victims were 14-year-old James Brian King and his 13-year-old stepsister, Christina Benjamin. After the murders, their bodies were discovered in a field near Telico on July 29. A road worker found the remains, which had been severely mutilated.

Massey was quickly linked to the killings through forensic evidence. He was arrested shortly after his release from jail, where he had been held for animal cruelty charges. In October 1994, he was convicted of capital murder.

During the trial, the prosecution aimed for the death penalty. A psychiatrist testified about Massey's disturbing writings, which showed a shift from fantasy to real-life plans for murder. He explained that Massey had documented his thoughts on evading police and purchasing weapons. The psychiatrist claimed that Massey was a significant danger to society.

A former teacher and a classmate of Massey testified about his violent behavior. The classmate shared instances of Massey threatening her and revealed that he had previously tortured and killed her dog, leaving its blood on her car. Another witness described finding animal bones and journals in a cooler, where Massey discussed his intentions to become a serial killer.

The jury took only 15 minutes to decide on Massey's execution. While on death row, he reportedly converted to Christianity.

Massey was executed by lethal injection on April 3, 2001. Before his death, he confessed to the murders and apologized to the victims' families. His last meal included fried chicken, vegetables, and ice cream.
