Bio

James Scott Porter was born on August 15, 1971. He grew up in Lake Dallas, Texas. By the age of 14, he reportedly ran away from home.

After leaving home, Porter became involved with individuals who shared his beliefs. He linked up with white supremacist groups and adopted their views, which included a strong dislike for certain social groups.

Porter's early criminal record began in 1990 when he was convicted of burglary. He was sentenced to eight years of probation. In 1991, he was convicted again for burglary and received a five-year prison sentence. After serving time, he was released on parole.

Porter continued to face legal issues. In 1995, he was convicted of first-degree murder for shooting a 40-year-old male transient. This crime resulted in a 45-year prison sentence. He expressed no remorse for this murder and felt he had acted for the benefit of society.

As a prisoner, Porter had additional encounters with the law, including a conviction for possessing a deadly weapon. His time in prison contributed to his reputation and further shaped his life. He was serving the 45-year sentence when he committed another murder in prison.

Porter was executed by lethal injection on January 4, 2005.

Murder Story

James Scott Porter committed his first murder in 1995 when he shot a 40-year-old male transient two times in the head. After killing him, he dumped the victim's body in a water well. Porter was sentenced to 45 years in prison for this crime and told investigators that he believed he had done society a favor.

While serving his sentence, Porter killed again in 2000. He brutally attacked fellow inmate Rudy Delgado in the prison day room at the Barry Telford Unit in Bowie County, Texas. Porter struck Delgado from behind with a rock held inside a pillowcase while Delgado was seated at a table. After Delgado fell to the ground, Porter continued the assault. He used the rock to repeatedly hit Delgado in the head and face. Once the pillowcase ripped, Porter stabbed Delgado with a makeshift knife and then stomped on his head and face with his steel-toed work boots.

After the attack was over, Porter surrendered to a correctional officer. He later gave a written confession, stating that he had planned to kill someone for some time and made the decision to use the rock and knife shortly before the murder. Porter claimed he acted against Delgado, whom he described as a child molester. He did not show remorse for the act and instead expressed pride in killing Delgado.

Porter was convicted of capital murder in 2001 for the death of Rudy Delgado and was sentenced to death. He did not pursue any further appeals and was executed by lethal injection on January 4, 2005. In his final words, he apologized for the pain he had caused and expressed love for his family.
