murder story

On May 13, 1998, the body of 34-year-old Patricia "Tresa" Peeler was discovered dumped near Avenue A in Flint, Michigan. Initially, authorities believed she had died from a cocaine overdose because she was a sex worker. However, a medical examination revealed that she was likely smothered to death. DNA evidence collected at the scene indicated the presence of a male.

A little over a year later, on October 8, 1999, police found the body of 31-year-old Lisa Marie Price in a yard on Susan Street near W. Mott Avenue. Like Peeler, Price was a sex worker, and an autopsy showed that she had been strangled. After finding Price’s body, investigators connected the two cases and started to suspect the work of a serial killer. DNA was again found on Price's body.

On January 20, 2001, 34-year-old Deena Brown, a mother of three, was found dead outside Northridge Academy. A sweatshirt was found next to her body, which was later confirmed to be the weapon used to strangle her. DNA evidence from the sweatshirt further tied the case to a suspect.

In 2006, Ivan Lee Page was arrested for drug and weapons charges. While in a state prison camp, he provided a DNA sample, which was submitted to the FBI's Combined DNA Index System. In 2007, his DNA was matched with the DNA found on the three murdered women. Consequently, Page was charged with their murders.

After his arrest, a former cellmate reported that Page often bragged about violence against women. Another individual claimed that the night before Deena Brown's body was found, he and Page were with her and that Page became upset before taking her into another room for a short time, coming back alone.

In 2008, Page went on trial for the murder of Deena Brown. His defense claimed that the DNA evidence did not prove he killed her, arguing that another person could have been responsible. However, in December 2008, Page was found guilty of murder, and in January 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison. Due to his life sentence, he has not been tried for the other two murders.
