Hu Daoping was born in 1971 in Chongqing, China, and grew up in a poor household. In 1993, he married Zhu Nianqiong, and two years later, in 1995, they had a child. That same year, Hu was arrested for theft and sentenced to eight years in prison.

While serving his sentence, Hu managed to escape in June 1998, fleeing to Sichuan Province. Living as a fugitive, he struggled financially and resorted to further criminal activities, beginning with a 2000 robbery of a philatelic store in a Yuechi County Post Office where he stole nearly 10,000 yuan.

Hu remained at large for years, evading capture while planning larger heists. His criminal behavior escalated to violent robberies, ultimately leading to multiple murders committed during these crimes.

murder story

Hu Daoping’s series of murders began on December 1, 2003, when he carried out a robbery at the Jintai Jewelry Shop in Yuechi County. During the heist, he set a fire that killed shop owner Fu Jianguo and guard Yang Lin. The robbery netted him over 400,000 yuan.

On January 13, 2005, Hu struck again, this time targeting the Yuechi County Post Office. While attempting to rob its vault, he killed two police officers, Cheng Zeping and Zhang Yong, who were present during the attack. Hu escaped the scene, continuing to evade law enforcement.

In April 2005, he attempted to rob another jewelry store in Guang'an, but the robbery was unsuccessful. Despite this failed attempt, Hu planned another major heist later that year.

On September 6, 2005, Hu robbed the White Temple Credit Union. During the robbery, he murdered three security guards: Jiang Weiyang, Zheng Ying, and another unidentified guard. Hu stole more than 180,000 yuan and fled the scene.

Four days later, on September 10, 2005, police arrested Hu after a massive manhunt. During interrogations, he confessed to all seven murders committed during his string of robberies.

On December 7, 2005, a court sentenced Hu to death. He was also deprived of political rights for life, and all his personal property was confiscated. His wife, Zhu Nianqiong, was convicted for attempting to cover up his crimes and received a three-year prison sentence with a four-year suspension.

On April 14, 2006, Hu Daoping was executed by shooting. He admitted to all charges before his death.
