murder story

On November 9, 1994, Farah Fratta was shot and killed in her home in Atascocita, Texas. The murder was carried out by Howard Paul Guidry, who acted on the orders of Robert Alan Fratta, Farah's estranged husband. Howard was recruited by Joseph Andrew Prystash, the middleman in the plot. At the time of the murder, Farah was home alone after having dinner with her children, while Robert was at church.

When Farah went to her garage, Guidry confronted her and fired two shots, hitting her in the head. Neighbors witnessed the shooting and saw Guidry flee in a car driven by Prystash. Following the murder, police were suspicious of Robert, but they lacked enough evidence to arrest him initially.

The investigation took a turn several months later when Guidry was arrested for unrelated charges. During this arrest, police discovered a gun in his possession, which led them to connect him to Farah's murder. A witness, Prystash's girlfriend, eventually disclosed Guidry's involvement. Ballistics tests linked the gun to the bullets that killed Farah.

As a result, Robert Fratta, Joseph Prystash, and Howard Guidry were all arrested and charged with capital murder. They were tried separately. Both Prystash and Guidry confessed their roles in the crime, implicating Robert as the one who orchestrated the murder because of ongoing divorce custody disputes.

In April 1996, Robert Fratta's trial concluded with a guilty verdict, leading to his death sentence. Prystash was also sentenced to death later that year. Guidry was tried in 1997 and received the same sentence.

Robert Fratta pursued multiple appeals, but they were all denied. He was executed by lethal injection on January 10, 2023. As of now, Howard Guidry remains on death row awaiting his sentence.
