1958Honor Robinson was born in 1919. He grew up in a time when the world was changing rapidly, with the effects of the Great Depression shaping many lives. By 1935, he had entered the criminal justice system. He was convicted for burglary and grand theft in Alabama.
In 1938, Honor faced charges again in Alabama for receiving stolen property. His criminal activities continued, and in 1940, he was convicted in Georgia for voluntary manslaughter. This led to more time in prison. By 1952, Honor was in Florida where he was charged with assault with intent to murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Due to his criminal record, Honor faced serious consequences for his actions. The years in prison and the choices he made greatly influenced the course of his life. Little is documented about his personal life, relationships, or interests outside of his criminal activities during these early years.
As he moved through his life, circumstances would lead him to meet Vera Whipple and William Bischoff in December 1958. They all arrived in Phoenix after struggling through hard times. They were aided by the Salvation Army upon their arrival in the city. This period marked a continuing connection with crime, which would lead to serious consequences.
Honor Robinson was involved in a murder case that took place in Maricopa County, Arizona. On December 21, 1958, Robinson shot William Bischoff twice in the back in a planned act. This occurred in Papago Park, where Robinson had arranged to meet Bischoff under the pretense of burglarizing a house.
After the shooting, Robinson dragged Bischoff's body off the road and took items belonging to him. It was reported that Bischoff was alive for several hours after being shot but ultimately died. His body was discovered on December 23, 1958, by the police.
Robinson and Vera Whipple, who was with him, were arrested on December 31, 1958. They had been living together at Robinson's home. During the investigation, both gave statements that indicated Robinson had shot Bischoff. Vera was not present during the shooting, but she was with Robinson afterward.
The gun used in the murder was later found at the home of Robinson’s neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Marks, who had kept it for him. The FBI tested the gun and confirmed that it was the weapon that fired the bullets that killed Bischoff.
Honor Robinson faced trial and was charged with first-degree murder. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. His execution by asphyxiation gas took place on October 31, 1961.
