Bio

Helmut Weidenbroeker was born in 1964 in Germany. He grew up in a small town called Broichweiden. As he got older, he moved to a nearby city, Aachen, to work as a chemist. During his time as a student, he showed unusual behavior by dressing up in his sister's clothes. He would then go out and assault elderly women, stealing their purses. This led to his arrest.

After being arrested, Helmut confessed to his actions but did not provide a clear reason for his crimes. He was sentenced to two years in prison for these offenses. However, his verdict was under appeal, and he was released before the appeal was decided.

After his release, a troubling series of events unfolded in the area. Between 1982 and 1986, there were several murders that shocked the community. Helmut's earlier behavior raised suspicions about him after these crimes began.

Murder Story

Helmut Weidenbroeker committed a series of murders in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, between 1982 and 1986. His first known victim was 19-year-old Marta Habermann, who disappeared on May 4, 1982, from a bus stop in Aachen. Her body was later found at another bus stop. She had been raped, sexually abused with a beer bottle, and stabbed 17 times.

Next was 16-year-old Karen Fink, who went missing on April 19, 1983. She was last seen returning home from school in Wuerselen. A week later, searchers found her body in a pond. She had been raped, beaten, strangled, and stabbed nine times. Her body showed signs of severe abuse.

On August 30, 1983, 18-year-old Doris Schroeder disappeared after getting off a bus in the village of Breinig. Her body was recovered from a lake near the Belgian border. She had been raped, stabbed 19 times, and was found to have drowned, indicating she was alive when thrown into the water.

Helmut's fourth victim was 17-year-old Elke Braun, who was abducted on June 3, 1984, from Rott. After being beaten, raped, and stabbed, she was thrown off a 40-foot cliff. She died from the fall.

The last known victim was 18-year-old Beate Goertz, who disappeared on March 6, 1986, after leaving her bus in Broichweiden. Her body was found in the Rur River on March 18. She had been raped and stabbed, and her skull was fractured before she was drowned. Witnesses recalled that Helmut Weidenbroeker had been on the same bus, which led police to question him.

Weidenbroeker quickly confessed to the murder of Beate Goertz. He was sentenced to life imprisonment on April 10, 1987. While he was charged in one case, authorities believed he was guilty of all five murders, as the killings stopped after his arrest.
