murder story
Gunner Jay Lindberg is an American convicted murderer who is currently on death row in California. He was born on March 1, 1975. In 1996, he committed the murder of Thien Minh Ly, a 24-year-old Vietnamese American, in Tustin, California. On the night of the Super Bowl XXX victory for the Dallas Cowboys, Lindberg decided to attack someone. He and an accomplice, 17-year-old Domenic Michael Christopher, were looking for a target. They encountered Ly while he was rollerblading near Tustin High School.
Lindberg and Christopher trapped Ly on the tennis courts. They beat him and kicked him repeatedly. After that, they stabbed him multiple times. This attack was driven by a hate crime motive, as Lindberg was associated with Neo-Nazi beliefs. Prosecutors also charged him with bullying.
Before this murder, Lindberg had a criminal history. He served most of a five-year prison sentence for a first-degree assault. In 1992, he shot an 11-year-old boy three times with a pellet gun. After his conviction for murder, the Supreme Court of California approved Lindberg's convictions and death sentence on August 29, 2008.
