Bio

George Adrian Quesinberry Jr. was born on April 22, 1961. His early life was marked by significant trauma. When he was just two years old, his mother died by suicide in front of him, and he was found covered in her blood. This tragic event had a lasting impact on him. Before he turned four, he also experienced sexual abuse by his paternal grandfather.

George’s childhood was unstable. He moved between homes in Texas and Virginia, often facing severe physical punishment. Family members noted that he was frequently beaten, and as a result, he struggled emotionally and psychologically.

As he grew up, George faced additional hardships. At 14, he was shot in the abdomen in a hunting accident, which further complicated his youth. By 1978, he dropped out of school after completing the eighth grade. He had an undiagnosed learning disability, which limited his educational opportunities.

Throughout his late teens and early twenties, George began to engage in criminal activities. At 18, he was involved in stealing purses. By age 20, he had broken into a grocery store. His behavior worsened, and he developed a drinking problem.

By September 1989, at age 28, George's life would again change dramatically. He was drinking rum one night when he decided to commit a burglary, which would lead to tragic consequences.

Murder Story

On September 24, 1989, George Adrian Quesinberry Jr. and a friend named Eric Hinkle planned to commit a burglary at the Tri-City Electric Supply Co. in Chesterfield County, Virginia. They had been drinking rum and Quesinberry suggested breaking into the business, as he was familiar with it from previous visits. Early that morning, they drove to Quesinberry's stepmother's home to retrieve a firearm, a .45-caliber Remington semi-automatic handgun.

Around 6 a.m., they arrived at the Tri-City Electric Supply Co. and pried open a rear door with a screwdriver. Inside, they rummaged through the offices and found a locked drawer. Quesinberry shot at the drawer to break the lock and retrieved a box of money from a cabinet. While they were searching the office, Thomas L. Haynes, the 63-year-old owner of the company, arrived. Unarmed, Haynes turned on the lights and noticed the intruders.

Haynes immediately fled, but Quesinberry chased him. During the chase, Quesinberry fired his weapon and struck Haynes, severing his spinal cord with one bullet. He shot Haynes again while pressing the gun against his back. When Haynes tried to push himself up from the ground, Quesinberry hit him in the head multiple times with the gun, fracturing his skull.

Later that day, around 7 p.m., Hinkle turned himself in to the police and confessed to the crime, implicating Quesinberry. When police arrested Quesinberry, he led them to the murder weapon and admitted to taking his share of the stolen money, which amounted to about $200 in coins.

Quesinberry was charged with capital murder and robbery and was convicted on May 2, 1990. He was sentenced to death and appealed the decision multiple times, but each appeal was denied. He was executed by lethal injection in Virginia on March 9, 1999. Before his execution, he expressed love for his family and apologized to the victim's family for his actions.
